How does solar work?
The power generated annually from each 74.5 MW solar site is enough to power about 15,000 homes over that year.

- As sunlight hits the solar panels, the energy from the sun is converted into direct current electricity.
- The direct current (DC) flows from the panels into power inverters and is converted into alternating current (AC) electricity.
- The AC electricity from the power inverters is collected using cables and delivered to a central electrical substation, where it passes through a power transformer.
- The electricity travels through transformers, and the voltage is boosted for delivery onto the transmission lines.
- Clean, renewable solar electricity is delivered to homes and businesses.
Solar Site Characteristics
Florida Renewable Partners’ solar site projects are typically 74.5 megawatts (MW). Sites produce enough clean emissions-free energy to power about 15,000 homes while reducing emissions equivalent to taking about 14,000 gasoline-dependent cars off the road annually. Our solar energy sites use a free and renewable resource – Florida’s abundant supply of sunlight – to generate cost-effective electricity. Check out these other key features:

Clean
Zero-carbon emissions and keep our air and water clean

Environmentally Friendly
Features native vegetation to support wildlife and pollinators

Secure
Site status and performance monitored 24/7

Good investment
Adds to county tax base, creates jobs, and generates economic benefits for the community

Minimal visual impact
Panels sit low to the ground and are often hidden behind trees and shrubs

Great Neighbors
No water or fuel required, lights at night, increase in traffic after construction or property value impacts
Integration of solar and battery storage
FRP helps maximize clean-energy generation with the development of battery storage. This innovative technology allows customers to use solar energy even when the sun isn’t shining at night or during inclement weather.

Battery storage is key to optimizing the way the power grid delivers electricity to customers. Batteries can store the energy produced at solar sites when the sun is the strongest and can send power to the grid even when the solar site is not operating - like at night.
